⭐ Important Algebra Concepts

  • Multiplication of like terms: Multiply the coefficients and keep the same variable part. Example: 3x × 4x = 12x².
  • Division of like terms: Divide the coefficients and subtract the exponents. Example: 12x⁵ ÷ 3x² = 4x³.
  • Exponent rule: aᵐ × aⁿ = aᵐ⁺ⁿ.
  • Exponent rule: aᵐ ÷ aⁿ = aᵐ⁻ⁿ, when a ≠ 0.
  • Sign rules: (+)(+) = +, (−)(−) = +, (+)(−) = −, (−)(+) = −.
  • Distributive property: a(b + c) = ab + ac.
  • Square identity: (a + b)² = a² + 2ab + b².
  • Difference of squares: (a + b)(a − b) = a² − b².
  • Important: When dividing powers with the same base, subtract exponents; do not add them.
